Use advice for data set This data set refers to the production of 1 m³ recycled ready-mix concrete of quality C20/25. The gross density is 2360 kg/m³. The data set can be used to estimate bulk densities of 2200 - 2500 kg. All mineral aggregates in this data set were balanced with 100% load-free secondary material. This represents the only difference between this data set and the generic data set "Ready-mixed concrete C20/25". Other secondary material proportions for ready-mixed concrete can therefore be estimated by mixing the two data sets.

Technology description including background system Module A1-A3: Recycled ready-mixed concrete of strength class C20/25 consists of a mix of recycled aggregates (approx. 80 M.%, load-free), cement (approx. 11 M.%), water (approx. 5.5 M.%) and fly ash ( approx. 3.5% by mass). The cement production dominates the LCA of recycled concrete (e.g. contribution to the global warming potential approx. 88%). Module A4: a Truck Transport to the construction site with 26 Tonnes payload and an average distance of 10 Kilometers has been assumed. The distance may be adjusted on building level as required. In the disposal phase, a mechanical dismantling (excavator) is assumed in module C1. The transport in module C2 to the treatment plant takes place with a truck (50km). In module C3, the material is processed, any reinforcement is fed to a sink (no loads, no credits). A treatment loss of 25% was assumed. This loss is fed to an inert material landfill within Module C3 (average landfill emissions). In Module D, a credit for the net amount of material (excluding reinforcement and treatment losses) for the substitution of natural gravel as backfill material is given.
